Somali youth in Portland and Beaverton organized Somali Youth of Oregon in response to the arrest of a Somali teenager accused of attempting to set off a bomb in Portland. SYO empowers youth through educational programs, civic engagement and leadership skills development. And, they bridge communities through community dialogue, storytelling events, and cultural presentations.
