Leaving a LegacyThe future depends on what we do in the present. Planned GivingDid you know that only 42% of Americans have wills? And, while 80% of us contribute to non-profits in our lifetime, only 8% make donations through a charitable bequest. A will is a great way to create a legacy for social justice, regardless of your income level. At MRG Foundation, donors have funded new and expanded programs throughout the organization through direct bequests and long-term funds set up as a result of an inheritance. Many of you have read about our Peace Fund that was made possible by a $1,000,000 bequest by Eugene resident Rob McCay. Smaller bequests have also provided the resources for expanded outreach and fundraising capacity leading to stronger programs, increased grantmaking and ensuring a vibrant future for the foundation. MRG Foundation staff and advisors are available to assist in identifying and developing long-term vehicles to perpetuate the progressive, philanthropic goals of individual donors throughout their lifetime and beyond. Planned giving vehicles can include wills, bequests, charitable remainder trusts and insurance policies, among other options. To name MRG Foundation in your will, you must use our full legal name: McKenzie River Gathering Foundation. For specific information about the planned giving program, please contact MRG Foundation's Development Director by email or by phone at 503-289-1517.
