MRG Foundation is looking for an experienced, dynamic, and innovative Major Gifts Director to provide the strategic vision and leadership for MRG’s major donor program (donors who annually give $1,000 and up). The Major Gifts Director will be passionate about the power of social justice philanthropy, inspired by MRG’s vision for a just and joyful Oregon, and excited to significantly expand a diverse base of major donors who invest in MRG. The Major Gifts Director will deepen relationships with existing major donors and engage our full team of staff and volunteers to expand MRG's major donor base.
Based in Portland. Full-time (35 hours a week) with some seasonal fluctuation of hours. Exempt. Requires some evening and weekend work and occasional travel. Reports to the Executive Director.
MRG Foundation is Oregon’s leading funder of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice groups. We award nearly half a million dollars every year in grants for community-based organizing and we raise the money we give out primarily from individual donors, with some support from businesses and foundations.
MRG makes grant decisions through a unique, activist-led process and we prioritize funding to organizations led by those who are most impacted by injustices, including people of color, people living with disabilities, women, LGBTQ, and low-income people.
MRG has spent the last two years strengthening a culture of fundraising throughout the organization: our Executive Director is enthusiastically engaged in development strategy and major donor cultivation; our Communications Director and Development Manager lead direct mail, grant writing, events, and workplace giving; and our part-time Office Manager manages donor data through CiviCRM. MRG’s annual budget is $1.3m with an asset base of $6m and we’ve raised $1.4m from individuals over the last three years. We’re excited to bring on a Major Gifts Officer who will help us reach our goal of raising $900,000/year by 2016-17.
$50,000 - $62,000 per year, depending on experience. Excellent medical and dental coverage. Generous vacation, holidays and sick leave.
