Travel Funds Available for U.S. Social Forum in June

Common Counsel, a national funder, has announced that they are awarding grants for travel to June's U.S. Social Forum in Detroit, Michigan. The Social Forum is expecting to draw over 10,000 people from around the country for workshops, plenaries, work brigades and more.

Applications to the Common Counsel fund are due by April 30, 2010. Guidelines and more information available on the Common Counsel website. From their information page:

Common Counsel's Grassroots Exchange Fund is a rapid response small grants program designed to support networking and collaboration between grassroots social change and environmental justice organizations throughout the United States. GXF prioritizes grants to small community-based groups seeking to meet face-to-face with other grassroots organizations, to build collaborative campaigns, and to benefit from technical assistance opportunities.

MRG's Travel and Critical Response Fund has given out almost all the grant funds we have available for this fiscal year (ending June 30th) so this is an alternate resource for groups who want to travel to the U.S. Social Forum.
