Grantmaking FAQ
"MRG Foundation empowers people doing the work to decide where the money
should go."
-- Marjory Hamann, Executive Director
MRG Foundation funds Oregon-based organizations that organize people to work for progressive social change. We champion groups that challenge the vast social, economic, and political inequities that exist in our society, with the goal of creating a peaceful, just, and environmentally sound world.
MRG Foundation's grantmaking focuses on efforts within communities that bring people together to address issues in these areas:
Within these broad areas, MRG Foundation's grants support work on issues including: globalization, domestic violence, homelessness, community-labor relations, HIV/AIDS, reproductive rights, queer liberation, immigrant rights, ancient forest and watershed protection, progressive media, disability rights, disarmament, struggles for native sovereignty and self- determination and criminal justice.
To advance our social change mission, MRG Foundation's grantmaking relies on having those activists carrying out the work make the funding decisions. The Grantmaking Committee is comprised of individuals directly involved in developing genuine solutions to the difficult issues facing their communities and the state as a whole. Committee members come from all parts of the state and reflect the diversity of Oregon.
