MRG Foundation has established the Since Time Immemorial Fund, which will rapidly deploy resources to our tribal communities when opportunity or need arises—across the region.

This fund will be activated to respond to COVID-19, in recognition of evidence of hot spots in current tribal communities and because, even weeks after emergency federal appropriation, tribes are just now receiving a portion of relief. In fact, we just heard from the Nation Indian Health Board that zero IHS/Tribal facilities received any of the $10 billion allocated for rural providers nor any of the $10 billion for high impact areas, not even Navajo Nation.

This current round has been seeded with $50,000 from our COVID-19 Community Response Fund; three other founding partners, Oregon Community Foundation, Northwest Health Foundation, and Group Health Foundation have already come forward to help–and the fund has grown to $275,000.

We are putting all our money and human resources where our values are and we’ll continue to lead with our values throughout this crisis — we appreciate and are honored to work for and alongside you all. We ask that you join us in this effort by making a bold gift that matches the urgency of this moment and the depth of the need that is already rising.
